Record Books

4-H Record Books give members an opportunity to reflect on their yearly work. Members document their skill development and learning experiences in a written report.
4-H members measure their achievements and growth. For more information visit the CA 4-H Resource Center - 4-H Record Books webpage.

Full Record Books Process:
Full Record book for Star Ranks and Achievement/Sparks books have the same dates 7/1//2025 to 6/30/226 as your fair record book.
You can also turn in just the Sparks form to get your Sparks pin(s) or the Leadership Form for APR to earn a gold year stripe, without completing a full record book.

Please email ALL full record books tc4hrecordbooks@gmail.com by July 12th for club judging. Your books will be evaluated and suggestions and comments will be sent back to you within a week to make any recommended changes to your books before they are included for county judging.

If you are submitting just the Sparks form or the Leadership form for credit without a full record book, those are also due July 12 to the same email.

All full record books should be put together into one complete PDF this includes your PDR's or Sparks forms, APR's, LDR's, expression pages and collections of work. If you are unable to put all of your parts together into one complete PDF, you can send the individual parts to Sue Moore at 2moores.sue@gmail.com and she will put them together into one book for you.

ALL completed books are due to tc4hrecordbooks@gmail.com by July 26 for county judging.

If you have any questions about record books you can reach out to Sue Moore or Beth Newman anytime.

Mother Lode Fair Record Books

Fair record books are required for all livestock exhibitors. Your project leader will give you a due date. After your leader signs it, it is your responsibility to turn in the completed book to the Livestock Office by July 1 at 8 AM. Your leader’s signature on this book will also earn you completion credit for your project.

Members in non-livestock projects also need to turn in those APRs to their project leaders by early June to receive project completion credit.

The Record Book dates are from 7/1/2025 to 6/30/2026 so that means part of this year’s fair will need to be recorded in next year’s fair record book. You can make another copy of the link to start recording into next year’s book.

To make these Google files editable you must go up to File > Make a Copy > then change the name up at the top to your name. If you are using a school account you cannot Make a Copy. Email Beth Newman at tc4hrecordbooks@gmail.com and she'll send you your own doc/sheet. Let her know if you have more than one project and she'll add enough forms for all of your projects.
