How to Access Weather Data

Having access to reliable weather data is an important part of farming.  Weather affects irrigation scheduling, spraying for disease and insect pests, cultural practices and growth of crops.

CIMIS (California Irrigation Management Information System) stations are operated by the California State Department of Water Resources.  Not every county has a CIMIS station (Calaveras and Tuolumne do not) and the stations require maintenance of grass to calculate baseline evapotranspiration (ET0).

Other stations are through California PestCast systems.

Weather Stations

The UCIPM weather page has CIMIS and other weather station data that is publicly accessible and does not require a password.

We now have 7 stations with grape powdery mildew and weather data located at:

Amador-Rombauer Sierra Foothills

El Dorado-Lava Cap
El Dorado-Fair Play
El Dorado-Gold Hill

Calaveras-Ironstone
Calaveras-West Point

To access data, go to UC IPM California Weather Data and use the map to select the weather station you want to access then choose dates you are interested in.
