Returning Adult Volunteers

2026-2027 enrollment will open July 15, 2026 for adults!

Returning Adult Volunteers

Welcome Back to 4-H!

Thank you for your continued support as a 4-H adult volunteer. You play an important role in the development of young people, helping them to identify their spark and develop the skills and positive outcomes that lead to thriving. Below are the steps to being reappointed as a volunteer. You are an asset to the 4-H Youth Development Program, and we look forward to working with you again!

Annual Volunteer Re-Appointment

All 4-H adult volunteers must be re-appointed each year.

To continue volunteering for the next program year, you must complete the re-appointment process before November 30.

If the process is not completed by that date, you must stop all 4-H volunteer activities beginning December 1 until your appointment is renewed.

If a volunteer does not renew for an entire program year (July 1 – June 30), this is considered a break in service.

Who Should Use This Process

Follow these steps if you:

  • Are currently a 4-H adult volunteer

  • Plan to continue volunteering in the upcoming program year

  • Have not had a break in service of one year or more

Step 1: Confirm Your Volunteer Role

Before starting the renewal process, contact your club leader or county 4-H office to confirm:

  • Your volunteer role for the coming year

  • The projects or activities you will support

Clear communication with your club leadership helps ensure projects and meetings are planned effectively.

Step 2: Renew Your Enrollment in ZSuite

Log into your household account in ZSuite, access your adult profile using your PIN, and click “Enroll for 2026-2027.”

  • You will be asked to choose a Primary Unit. This is the club that you have chosen to be your 4-H home base. Select one for now, you can always change it later.

  • Adult Volunteers do not need to add a project. If you are going to be a project leader, your project will be added to ZSuite once your membership is made active and your  Annual Project Plan has been submitted  to the 4-H Office. Annual Project Plan are due to club leaders by July 10th.

  • Once you click submit you will receive an email confirmation that your application has been received and is waiting for approval. Your 4-H enrollment status will show as pending until all enrollment steps are completed and reviewed by the 4-H office.

The 4-H Enrollment System will be closed until July 15th. Enrollment for the 2026-2027 year begins at noon on July 15th.

Step 3: Complete Online Returning Volunteer Course

Returning volunteers must complete the online Returning Volunteer Course in the Campus Extension learning system.

This course is designed to teach new volunteers about the 4-H program and  cover materials mandated by the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Course Completion Time: 35 min.

  • CANRA for Volunteers

  • UC 4-H Core Values & Acknowledgement

Access  RETURNING Volunteer Course - Link available after July 1, 2026
Find your county's Self-Enrollment Key to enroll in the online course.

After finishing the training, your completion will be recorded as part of your volunteer re-appointment process.

Important Communication Reminder

The household email address listed in ZSuite is the primary way the 4-H program communicates with volunteers.

Please make sure the email address in your account:

  • Is correct

  • Is checked regularly

If you do not receive confirmation emails, contact the County 4-H Office to verify your information.

When Your Re-Appointment Is Approved

After completing the required steps:

  1. The County 4-H Office reviews your renewal

  2. Your volunteer status is updated to active

  3. You may continue volunteering in your club and projects

Please allow time for the county office to process approvals.

Thank You for Your Service

4-H volunteers play a vital role in helping youth grow as leaders, problem-solvers, and community members.
