Wow, what a great idea. I use a saffron in my paella, fabada and other family heritage dishes. I've learned a lot of Spanish-style cooking over the years and I've always wondered if I could grow the crocuses for saffron.The pilaf recipe looks good. I'll try it and who knows, maybe I'll become a backyard saffron farmer.

Saffron crocuses (crocus? crocusi?) are supposed to do well around here, so give it a try!
