Delta Crops Resource Management

The Delta Crops Resource Management program delivers extension education and applied research to support sustainable agriculture across the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. With a focus on crop production, soil health, and water resource management, the program promotes practices that enhance farm viability, environmental stewardship, and long-term resilience in the region’s agricultural systems. Efforts align with UC ANR’s strategic initiatives in sustainable food systems, natural ecosystems, and water quality and quantity.

Serving Delta-area growers, farm managers, pest control advisors, and agency partners, the program emphasizes agronomic cropping systems across 500,000 acres of farmland. It advances best management practices in irrigation, nutrient and pesticide use, and soil conservation to support both productivity and ecological sustainability. Headquartered in San Joaquin County, the program also provides regional expertise across adjacent Delta counties.

The program is led by Michelle Leinfelder-Miles and covers Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, and Yolo Counties.
