Small Farms Advisors and their teams serve small-scale farmers with diverse programs that address the needs of their counties' clientele. To meet those needs, staff:

  • provide on-farm consultations,
  • conduct research,
  • present educational outreach programs,
  • author research publications, and
  • collaborate with colleagues.

Statewide Small Farms Teams work across county regions on select topics relevant to small farms.

  • Small Farms Food Safety Team
    • Offers workshops and technical assistance to aid small-scale growers in complying with federal food safety requirements.
  • Groundwater & SGMA Team
    • Offers technical assistance and educational resources to support growers with groundwater management and Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) compliance.
  • Small Farms IPM Program 
    • Offers integrated pest management (IPM) tools developed specifically for small-scale operations to assist growers in managing pests using a variety of control methods.
  • Bilingual Technical Assistance Team
    • Offers bilingual technical assistance on a diversity of topics, including grant and incentive program application assistance, regulatory compliance, and agricultural production and marking technical assistance.
