Welcome to our New Demonstration Garden at the Loomis Library & Community Learning Center!

We’re excited to announce the opening of our new demonstration garden and invite you to experience the garden firsthand.

Master Gardeners began work on 11,000 square feet of property on the east side of the Loomis Library and Community Learning Center in September 2023. The project transformed an existing lawn into a beautiful waterwise garden showcasing California natives, pollinators, and edible plants.

The garden provides an educational environment with areas devoted to pollinator friendly gardens, HOA friendly garden, rain gardens, compost demonstration area, California native woodlands, a lawn alternative meadow, hedgerows, an edible garden, straw bale alternative and an orchard. The plants and fruit trees are all small but have labels, and the labels have QR codes so visitors can learn more about them.

Docents will be in the garden on the second Saturday of every month to align with the Master Gardener speaker/workshop series at the Loomis Library. For details, check our list of workshops and special events at https://pcmg.ucanr.edu.

The garden will be open to the public at the same hours as the Loomis Library but closing at dusk.
