Is there a way to print a survey? For some clientele, we would like to provide a copy of the survey to fill out by hand rather than online.

You can print out surveys (using the print function within the web browser) but the survey will retain the spacing of the website.

Is there a link which shows how to set up a Survey with a quiz and automated answers?

  • Administrator
    February 20, 2014

No, there is no help (that I am aware of) for quizzes. Quizzes may be enabled for any survey. It changes how the survey is presented to only one question at a time.

To enable quizzes from the Survey Administration go to "Options" then "Quiz Option" and check "Activate Quiz". After this is activated edit the questions and the answers will be selectable or enterable. Each question has text boxes for correct or incorrect responses.

Hi, Sometimes we have Other as an answer user's can choose but we want them to tell us what specific the other is. Is there a way to provide a fill-in field for that answer rather than adding it as another question and directing them to provide the details in the box below?

  • Administrator
    January 28, 2014

No. If you desire the user to fill in what "other" is you must provide a place to have them enter the "other" answer.

One of our respondents had a problem submitting the form. here is his email: From: Luecke, Hartmut [mailto:hudel@uci.edu] Sent: Friday, December 27, 2013 3:47 AM To: Christophe Younghans-Haug Subject: Re: Six-month Lab Settlement Safety compliance certifications I went to the weird UCANR.EDU website (what/what is that?) and filled out the form. When I click SUBMIT I get this. Think it was messed up last time as well – please fix your form before wasting our time with this stuff! === Sorry, not enough information was sent. Please fill out the survey again. === I checked ALL the boxes Besides ”Have been developed for Pyrophoric liquids (if applicable) “ All the other fields are marked OK!

Is there a way to copy a whole survey or save a template? We use the survey as a registration tool for trainings that we have very regularly. Recreating the survey each time seems unnecessary.

  • Administrator
    January 2, 2014

To COPY a survey login to the survey then go to "Options" -> "Move Copy Delete".

Templates can be created by one of the developers and are available to all Survey Administrators. If you have a template pattern that you like added as a template let us know and we can add it.

Hi, I cannot find "how to post the survey (registration) on the website (site builder). Thanks,

  • Administrator
    February 5, 2014

This is done using Site Builder. In Site Builder add a Survey Asset to one of the pages and select the survey you want to use.

How do you add a comment selection after the multiple choice questions? I tried the WYSIWYG editor but all it gave me for that question was a comment box and my multiple choice selections disappeared.

  • Administrator
    November 12, 2013

To add a comment after a multiple choice or any queestion. Simply add a new question after the multiple choice question.

  • Administrator
    February 5, 2014

In the Survey Adminstration go to "Options" then "Move Copy Delete". Then choose "Delete Entire Survey".

Another option is to Disable the Survey. Go to "Options" then "Disable Survey".

We have updated information in the email that is sent to respondents upon completing a survey. Respondents prior to that change need to be informed of changes. Is there a way to automatically trigger/rgenerate a post-survey email to respondents?

  • Administrator
    February 5, 2014

No, there is not a way to automatically notify users who previously filled out the survey.

Hi, I have created surveys for each staff member in the Academic Personnel unit to be evaluated by others in ANR. How do I set it up so that the results from all the surveys get sent/can onyl be accessed by the Exec Director Kim Rodrigues? She doesn't want all the staff members' evaluation results to be seen by them or me. Please advise. Thanks!

Please bring back the numeric question sort option. Much more efficient to toggle between numbers and arrows so that one can adjust among autogenerated numbers. This was a great feature of the past!! Bring it back. Thanks,

Is there a way to put a page break between survey questions? Also (or instead of the previous question) make the survey such they cannot go back and edit their answers while taking the survey?

  • Administrator
    May 8, 2013

The only survey type that has separate pages is a quiz. If you use it, each quiz question will be on a separate page.

You can prevent user edits by going to "options" and "user edit."

I've set up a survey for an event that has a limited number that can register. Some have failed registrations before it finally goes through and so throws off the 'Limit Responses' count. Is there a way to reset it to the actually count? I've tried deleting the failed registrations, but the Limit count didn't change.

  • Administrator

You can increase the count. We will add the count reset to our to-do list.

The surveys have some options for editing the text; however, we recommend you leave as much as possible to the standard format. It will perform better on mobile devices. The questions and answers cannot swap sides.

On the completed calls survey, I think switching the order of the last two questions may be clearer. After name of MG who made contact, put "date contacted" then "ok for follow-up call?".

  • Administrator

Each survey's questions are ordered by the survey creator. You need to contact that person to have them changed.

Is it possible to create a survey that can only be assessed via the portal? I am exploring ways to gather information from Butte Co Master Gardeners who have portal access.

  • Administrator
    January 10, 2013

Hi Jeanette, if you create a survey through the portal, it will remain there for whenever you need it next. You can add administrators who could then access the survey through their portal. There is an option within the survey administration where you can turn portal display and email notifications on or off.

We have an event that repeats every year. Is there a way to "clone" the prior year's survey and just make a few changes?

  • Administrator
    November 27, 2012

Yes, you can simply copy the survey and make the appropriate changes, and your old survey will remain as it was.

To do so, log into your survey dashboard, and in the top blue menu locate the "Options" tab. Either click or hover over it to reveal "move, copy or delete", and there select the "copy" option. Once you've done so, you'll notice a new copy of your survey in your survey list, with the added word "copy" at the end.

This will be an exact copy of your old survey without the records of the previous one. You will be able to modify in any way you wish.

Is there any thought to being able to add a graphic to the question? For example, I want to test the user's knowledge for pest identification. I would like to put up a photo of weed species and ask the user to ID it. It looks like I can put a link to a url but that doesn't seem to do what I need. I really just want to put in photo.

  • Administrator

Unfortunately there is not. At this time that would cause difficulty collecting the proper results.

How do you convert a survey into a quiz. I set the quiz options but don't know how to set it up with the correct answers etc.

  • Administrator
    November 27, 2012

You will need to setup a survey as a quiz, it doesn't convert a survey to a quiz. The quiz option is meant to give your respondent a choice of answers, then rate their answer and give them the correct option if incorrect. Feel free to contact us for more information.

After completing the survey, it takes you to the page where you can "re-edit" the form/responses. Is there way to put a button that gives you the option to "close the survey?"

  • Administrator
    November 27, 2012

Once your logged into your survey dashboard, locate and click on or hover over"Options" in the top menu and select "user edit". Toggle the last option, "No Re-edit", and your user will be forced to end the survey after clicking the submit button.

I'm having the same issues with the questions. I think also the look and feel of the whole survey (on the takers side) is quite plain looking. It used to look really nice and I liked the different colors and borders that were just naturally used....not it's super plain and just white. It would be great if maybe we could have a few chioces for color and physical layout of the survery to choose from? Thanks guys!!!!

Is there a way to stretch out the questions? My questions are all squished into a narrow column on the left side of the screen, making the survey page VERY long! There's a lot of white space on the answer side.

  • Administrator
    October 11, 2012

Hi Trish, thank you for your suggestion. We are working towards improving the display, however at present time making concessions in the question display causes more issues with answer fields. However, we are working on a solution, so pleas bear with us!

Is there a way to program the question fields, (First Name, Last Name) where the first letter is automatically changed to uppercase when user doesnt do it?

  • Administrator
    October 10, 2012

Unfortunately no, there are so many variations on names it would be hard to know when to use a capital letter. For example, people with two last names, or different capitalization factors such as Van Krausenstein, Or McNoel. It's best to leave it to the respondent.

Hi! When a registrant selects check and method of payment, and we go in after receipt of the check to verify the payment and enter the details of the check, it would be cool if a notification would be sent to the email on the registration, indicating the check had been received. What do you think? Maybe that's already done???
