News and Information Outreach in Spanish (NOS) supports communication and outreach to Spanish-speaking communities in California. Since 1981, NOS has promoted UC ANR's stories and public values through multiple media platforms, helping staff effectively reach Latino audiences across the state.

Catalog of Services
The NOS catalog provides an overview of services to support project planning, budgeting, and execution, including estimated costs and timelines. Contact Ricardo Vela to request a copy (catalog — remediation required before republishing).
Translation Services
NOS offers accurate translations and adaptations of educational materials into Spanish by professional translators. Translation services are also available in Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. Translation services are subject to a $81.09 per-hour charge.

Translation Services Timeline:
- When you submit your request and documents, you will receive a cost and time estimate within two business days.
- Once you approve the project, translation typically takes up to ten business days to complete.
- When the translation is complete and you are satisfied, an invoice will be created and forwarded to our finance analyst for processing.
Using AI in Translation
AI translation tools can produce technically accurate translations but lack the cultural sensitivity and contextual understanding that human translators provide. This can result in translations that, although correct on the surface, may unintentionally convey misleading, inappropriate, or offensive messages.
NOS goes beyond simple translation. We understand the complexity of the Latino community and are committed to delivering communications that are culturally appropriate, respectful, and relevant to your target audiences.
Translation Request
To request translation services, complete the Service Request Form and email it to Ricardo Vela, Program Manager. You will receive a quote including estimated turnaround time and costs within two business days (Service Request Form PDF — remediation required before republishing).
Outreach Services
The NOS team can help you:
- Promote your program to the Latino community
- Pitch story ideas to Spanish-language media outlets — print, radio, and television
- Increase outreach to Latino communities in your county
- Stay informed about trends and demographic changes within the Latino community
- Create social media campaigns to reach your goals and target audiences
- Develop customized training
Video Services
NOS offers video production services to help you share your story and extend your outreach. Video services are subject to a $84.61 per-hour charge.

Video and Editing Services Timeline:
- When you send your request, we will respond within two business days to schedule a meeting to discuss your project.
- Following the meeting, you will receive a cost and time estimate within two business days.
- Once you approve the project, most video and editing projects take approximately ten business days to complete.
- When the service meets your satisfaction, an invoice will be generated and sent to our finance analyst for processing.
Logos and Templates in Spanish
Spanish logos and templates are bundled with the English versions in the Logos and Templates section. A Spanish business card option is in development. Until then, please submit a custom business card request to Ricardo Vela.
