Strategic Communications (SC) is a small team serving more than 1,600 UC Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) employees across the state. We work with internal stakeholders to promote UC ANR and extend research-based information to new audiences.
Partner With Us
There are several ways to work with the SC team:
Pitch us a story. Fill out the story pitch form to get started. You can also email contentpipeline@ucanr.edu to share ideas or schedule a meeting to collaboratively develop a coverage plan. We welcome new research findings, blog posts, and major communications initiatives. We review submissions at our weekly content planning meetings and add them to our editorial calendar.
We evaluate stories using these criteria:
- Topic will appeal to the general news media, focuses on a pressing issue or innovative solution, and is understandable to a general audience
- Addresses an issue of interest to key target audiences, such as legislators, donors, granting agencies, and underserved or urban communities
- Priority is generally given to UC ANR academics not affiliated with a campus, since campus academics have access to campus communications resources
Please provide as much lead time as possible for deadline-driven stories. Stories typically take one to two weeks to develop when stakeholders respond to reviews promptly.
Join our weekly content planning meeting. Stop by our Monday Zoom calls at 11:00 a.m. to brainstorm how we can support your initiative. Past discussions have covered getting information to local media, Giving Tuesday campaigns, national 4-H week activities, and promoting events.
Meeting ID: 945 1001 3451 | Passcode: SC2022
Join the Monday content planning meeting on Zoom- Request training. SC offers training in media relations, social media, content marketing, videography, branding, and other communications topics. We can train your team directly or connect you with effective training resources.
- Invite us to your meetings. Including SC in content development discussions helps us gather ideas for our editorial calendar and stay current on trending topics in your work. We can also present on communications strategies, partnership opportunities, and best practices.
