At more than 170,000 acres, the farms and ranches of Marin account for half of the total land in the county. Dairies, hayfields, vegetable operations, rangeland for grazing – it’s all here. And on top of that, there are miles of coastline where you can find some of the finest oysters, clams and other shellfish in California.
Our farmers and ranchers are essential members of the communities they feed. Additionally, as we humans have become more attuned to the challenges facing our soil, air and water, our farmers have risen to the challenge – finding new ways to live up to their most basic role: stewards of the land.
