Who We Are and What We Do

UC Master Food Preservers (MFPs) are trained volunteers who extend UC research-based information about home food safety and preservation to the public.

  • Work in the community as local food preservation specialists.
  • Teach classes on various food preservation topics.
  • Answer food preservation inquiries by email.
  • Staff information booths and present food preservation demonstrations at the county fair and other local events.
  • Provide accuracy testing of home pressure canners for the public, free of charge.

Workshops

Our online workshops are in partnership with the San Mateo County Library system. Join our instructors from the comfort of your own kitchen, by Zoom! We have a new topic scheduled for each month. All workshops last 1 hour and are free! However, advance registration is required. You may also explore the San Mateo County Libraries calendar of events here.
