Espalier is a centuries old horticultural practice training trees or shrubs in a relatively flat form typically against a wall or trained to a trellis. Many fruit trees can be espaliered to conserve space and maximize fruit production. Discover the best fruit varieties suitable for espalier. Learn how to start the espalier process, and the basics of summer and winter pruning needed to maintain your espaliered tree or shrub.

Scion Exchange & Grafting Demo
Grafting is an ancient way of growing different varieties of the same fruit on one tree, shrub or vine. Bring healthy cuttings to share (although not required to participate). We will demonstrate grafting by grafting a stone fruit cutting of your choice onto a free rootstock for you to take home. You’ll find stone fruit, figs, avocado, grapes, pomegranates and more. No citrus nor patented varieties please. Browse and stay as long as you like. Horticulturist Richard Smith from CRFS will be available.
