IWP resources and issues
Since the launch of Integrated Web Project on March 24, the team has been addressing critical bugs – many of which were expected for a project of this magnitude and complexity (see Known Issues). Please read this roundup of key resources and current issues.
IWP Training Site
The first stop for your “how-to” questions should be the IWP Training Site. We recommend reviewing the Post-Cutover Activities, Group Types and Editing and Managing Content (especially Content Types and CKEditor).
We encourage you to keep your site layout and functionality as simple as possible. As we have been emphasizing, we are working together in this phase to build a solid foundation upon which we can grow into the future.
Recent Adjustments
We are actively listening and responding to feedback from our community. We have completed several adjustments to IWP to meet the needs of editors and admins:
• Squisher Tool: This tool, accessible from the Portal, has been updated to restore the ability to create shortened links and QR codes.
• Related Sites: Group Admins can now control what gets listed as “Related Sites” on your sites and blogs.
• Social Media “Share” Links: This can now be hidden or displayed as desired.
• Org Charts on People Profiles: This is now hidden, with the option to display coming soon.
• Common Requests: Based on inquiries we have received, there is a section on the IWP Training Site that provides answers to FAQs (such as how to create a button or compile a staff list).
Additional feedback and suggestions to improve IWP should be submitted using the Future Enhancement Request Form.
Support
Regular “support hours” have been canceled due to low attendance. We are currently working on reestablishing one-on-one Calendly appointments; please check back on the IWP Training Site.
If you have urgent issues that need to be addressed, please email iwp@ucanr.edu so we can better review, prioritize and answer the Help tickets that are created.
Tagging
A crucial component of IWP is tagging your content with as many relevant tags as possible to improve discoverability across the website. Tags are used to group your content with similar content based on:
• Counties (e.g., Alameda)
• Programs (e.g., Master Gardeners)
• Research and Extension Centers (e.g., Kearney REC)
• Topics (e.g., Agriculture)
• Commodity (e.g., Rice)
• Cultural Practice (e.g., Nutrient Management)
• Settings (e.g., Forest)
See the full list of available tags. You should add all applicable tags to all new content you create in IWP going forward, but also – to the greatest extent possible – please go back and tag existing content that migrated to IWP. This will not only significantly improve the visibility of your content but also improve the usefulness of our site for visitors.
Additions and adjustments to the tags (the “taxonomy”) will be considered in the future by the UC ANR Content Governance Council.
Site/Content Migration
As previously communicated, the move from Site Builder and the legacy Blog system to Drupal/IWP does not constitute a one-to-one replacement (see Migration FAQs for a list of elements that were slated for migration and non-migration). If there are essential items that were missed during migration, please email us at iwp@ucanr.edu. We are reviewing those requests and prioritizing migration of content during the next month.
Broken Links
Broken links are inevitably part of any major website transition, but our site has been especially challenging, given links between our website and internal platforms (i.e., Portal), Site Builder bugs and the dispersed management of our former web ecosystem. The IWP team is working to review requests and develop the most efficient solutions.
Access to Legacy Site Builder Sites and Blogs
To ensure uninterrupted access to the resources you need to complete the transition to Drupal/IWP, we are keeping the legacy Site Builder sites and Blog system available for your reference. You can access that content through the Portal by clicking “Edit” next to your site/blog in the Portal interface.
Please do not make new edits in Site Builder or create new blog posts in the old Blog system (links in blog notification emails, sent out through the old system, will not work).
Enhancement Requests
The new UC ANR website is a “foundational build” – a starting point from which we can continue to grow. While actively working on fixes to ensure the site meets your immediate needs, we are also creating a flexible platform for growth in the future.
We appreciate the feedback we have received. If there are features you would like to see added to IWP, or you would like to make other suggestions, please submit comments via the Future Enhancement Request Form (please reserve use of the iwp@ucanr.edu email address for urgent fixes).
The Content Governance Council will evaluate those requests and comments; your input will directly influence our priorities and help us deliver a website that supports your work more effectively.
Thank you again for your continued support of this important project. We are committed to delivering a modern, stable and useful website and your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
