Newly published research by a trio of pollination ecologists at the University of California, Davis should help California gardeners and land managers select the best native plants that support pollinators and natural enemies.

UC Davis doctoral student Rebecca Godwin, whose research focuses on the phylogenetics, taxonomy, and systematics of trapdoor spiders, won a second-place award in the President's Prize graduate student competition at the recent Entomological Society of America (ESA) meeting in Vancouver, B.C.

UC Davis doctoral candidate Jessica Gillung, who studies the parasitoid flies commonly known as spider flies, won the prize for best student presentation at the recent 9th International Congress of Dipterology in Windhoek, Namibia.

UC Davis will host the seventh annual International Pollinator Conference, a four-day conference focusing on pollinator biology health and policy. It is set from Wednesday, July 17 through Saturday, July 20, 2019 in the ARC Ballroom.

Seminar series coordinator Geoffrey Attardo, medical entomologist and assistant professor, UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology, has announced the list of seminars for the winter quarter. The seminars begin Jan. 9 and continue through March 13. All will take place from 4:10 to 5 p.m.
