Earlier this summer, I was fortunate to be able to take a family vacation to Canada. One of our visits was to Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), Canada's smallest province. Prince Edward Island depends on its own water table for all of its water needs.
Sesamum indicum flower The Black Sesame Plant It's time! I just went out to the garden and harvested my Black Sesame Seeds. I'm excited that the plant did great in my vegetable garden this year. It was super easy to grow. The seeds are pretty expensive so, the money I'll save is wonderful.
Around mid-summer and still now as summer is coming to an end, my favorite fruit is still in its glory. In late July our glorious local nectarines and peaches start filling the booths at the Vallejo Farmer's Market.
My plot at the Avant Community Garden in downtown Benicia had fallen into disrepair as the summer vegetables finished up their season. Time to clean it up and be a good neighbor. This summer my greatest success was with butternut squash, and my biggest failure again was tomatoes.
