OUCH!

Ouch! Recently when I looked out my bedroom window I was shocked when I saw this tree with overly excessive pruning cuts. I don't know why this drastic type of pruning was needed for this tree.

Eucalyptus Trees and Vegetable Gardening

Over the last several years, my wife and I have been setting up a raised bed garden on the west side of our home. There are about 10 Eucalyptus trees on the west edge of the garden that provides some shade from the very hot late afternoon sun. These trees are about 35 years old and well established.

Two of the Footed Ferns

Among my fern collection are two with feet. Both are epiphytic meaning they retrieve nutrients and moisture from the air. In their native habitat, these feet (or rhizomes) wrap around and cling to tree trunks.

Asparagus Ferns

I recently had to replace a small section of sidewalk next to my garage. Not sure what caused it, but it had become uneven, leaving a dangerous lip I could easily have tripped over.
