Introduction to the Event

Members will demonstrate their knowledge of livestock on the species selected at the time of registration. Youth Members will rotate through different stations and answer questions related to the species chosen at the time of registration. Each session accommodates specific species.

Glenn County 4-H Livestock Challenge Information Sheet 2025-2026

Who?

Primary members will have the option to participate in California primary-approved projects: Pygmy Goats, Avian, and Rabbit. All 4-H members are encouraged to participate.

What?

The Livestock Challenge is an opportunity for members to demonstrate their livestock knowledge. Members will rotate through different stations and answer questions related to the species selected. Members can compete in more than one species. Questions are taken from the Livestock Challenge and Livestock Judging study guides located on the Glenn County 4-H Website.

When?

Saturday, January 17, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. Check in 10 minutes prior to the time slot selected on the registration survey. Awards will be presented at 12:00 p.m. upon the completion of tabulations. Participants do not need to be present. Any awards not picked up at the event may be collected at the UCCE Office or at your next club meeting.

Registration options are as follows:

10:00 a.m. PRIMARY ONLY- General/Rabbits, General/Avian, and General/Pygmy Goats

10:00 a.m. JR., INT., & SENIOR DIVISIONS- Swine, Rabbits, Pygmy Goats, and Sheep

10:30 a.m. JR., INT., & SENIOR DIVISIONS- Swine, Rabbits, Sheep, Horse, and Goats

11:00 a.m. JR., INT., & SENIOR DIVISIONS- Swine, Rabbits, Sheep, Beef, and Dairy

11:30 a.m. PRIMARY ONLY- General /Rabbits, General/Avian, and General/Pygmy Goats

11:30 a.m. JR., INT., & SENIOR DIVISIONS- Avian, Goats, Sheep, Beef, and Dairy

Livestock Challenge Registration

Register online at: https://surveys.ucanr.edu/survey.cfm?surveynumber=47429. Registration is due on Monday, January 12, 2026. If you do not have computer access or need assistance registering for this event, please call the UCCE Office at (530) 865-1107.

Awards and Recognition:

Primary Members will receive a ribbon and certificate for participation only. Awards for the top winner in each species Junior, Intermediate, and Senior age division, plus an overall species winner, will receive a species-specific prize, certificate, and ribbon. Certificates and ribbons will also be given for each species and age division, 1^st-3^rd place.
