Job Interview Contest

Introduction
This contest is great for challenging members' oral and written communication skills. The Interview Contest is a popular event that gives 4-H Members an opportunity to practice real-life skills needed to apply for a job. Participants prepare a resume and cover letter for a job they choose from the job descriptions provided on our website, provided by the California State 4-H Interview Contest. Members will have their performance evaluated during a mock interview and receive constructive feedback from evaluators, using a standard evaluation rubric.
Who
Any 4-H member may participate in the 4-H Job Interview Contest in the Junior Division (9-10 years old), Intermediate Division (11-13 years old), and Senior Division (14-18 years old), as of December 31, 2025.
When
Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Interviews will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held every 20 minutes.
How
Register online at: https://surveys.ucanr.edu/survey.cfm?surveynumber=47456. The registration deadline is Monday, March 16, 2026. If you do not have computer access or need assistance registering for this event, please call the UCCE Office at (530) 865-1107. No day of registration will be allowed.
Please submit your resume and cover letter to the UCCE Office and schedule your interview by Monday, March 16, 2026. Submissions can be emailed to ckampmann@ucanr.edu or brought to the UCCE Office located at 821 E. South St., Orland.

Awards and Recognition
All youth participating in the Job Interview Contest will receive a certificate of participation. Participants receiving 24-28 points will receive a gold seal, 18-23 points will receive a blue seal, 11-17 points will receive a red seal, and 1-11 points will receive a white seal. Gold and Blue award winners will also receive a general youth development hat pin.
