Frank Zalom never set out to study insect science. The UC Davis distinguished professor emeritus, an icon in the entomological world, especially in integrated pest management (IPM), grew up thinking that he might be working for the telephone company.

Just before Amina Harris retired June 30, 2023 as director of the UC Davis Honey and Pollination Center, part of the Robert Mondavi Institute, she headed to Mexico with Slow Food Yolo to teach about her favorite subjecthoney--at the Univa University in LaPiedad, Michoacan.

The Bohart Museum of Entomology will dedicate its open house, Night at the Museum (formerly known as Moth Night) to the late Jerry Powell, longtime director of the Essig Museum Entomology of UC Berkeley, and an international authority on moths. He died July 8 in Berkeley at age 90.
