As a kid it was pretty common to get flat tires on the bike from puncturevine seed heads. Those spikes would also pierce the soles of tennis shoes and hobble me until I got a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the spike out of the shoe. NOW HEAR! There are some solutions to this terrible menace.

Field Finds: Fungus Among Us Siomara Zendejas, Ventura County UCCE SRA I stumbled upon this delightful find while doing some field work in an avocado orchard. The light coming in through the canopy made it very easy to spot the branch among the leaf litter.
