I received a press release this week from the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA) that I thought would be interesting to repost here.

One of my research focus areas over the past few years has been related to soil fumigation issues, specifically focused on methyl bromide alternatives for the tree and vine nursery industry. I described some of this nursery work in a post late last year.

Yellowflag iris (Iris pseudacorus L.), native to Europe, is an emergent invasive of pond margins, ditches, and other wetland sites in much of the United States. It forms dense stands which displace native sedges and rushes, reducing waterfowl habitat and water flow.
