With all the lovely rain we've been having I am continually surprised by what pops up each season. This year our Osteosperum ecklonis has gone wild!! Pictured to the left is my flourishing African Daisy (it's common name).

Adventures in the Arboretum

I've enjoyed visiting the UC Davis Arboretum many times over the years. Because there is so much to see I've usually focused on one area at a time. In April, I came with a group that had never seen the Arboretum before.

I've read a thousand times about the benefits of journaling. Expressing your thoughts, venting your frustrations, sharing your inner worries and concerns, acknowledging your blessings none of which I've done. But a garden journal. That's a different thing entirely.

Do Not Turn Spring into Fall

Work Smarter not Harder After two knee replacements and recovery, I must admit that I am not as spry as I used to be. In my mind, I think I can throw 2 cubic foot bags of soil with ease and weed a garden plot in half an hour. Not anymore.
