Going about the mundane tasks that a garden demands—weeding, trimming,
pinching, and grooming—my mind often wanders. A poem I learned many years
ago sometimes brings me back to the present. Let me share it with you and see
if you agree with it!
Mud
Mud is very nice to feel
All squishy-squashy between the toes!
I's rather wade in wiggly mud
Than smell a yellow rose.
Nobody else but the rosebush knows
How nice mud feels
Between the toes.
