MCP 2026 Blackberry Planting, Growing, and Care Talk & Demonstration - San Jose
About the Event
Curious about growing your own blackberries at home? Join Master Gardener Jim Bell, who will discuss selecting, planting, trellising, harvesting, and pruning for the next year’s harvest! Then, join us in our berry patch where we will give a planting, pruning, and general care demonstration that will illustrate how easy growing your own blackberries can be!
Participants should wear closed-toed shoes, layered clothing, sturdy gardening gloves, and a hat, as the class is held outdoors, and some of our berries have thorns!. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to park and sign in.
Please note: the park charges $6.00 for parking, or park closer to our area on Chynoweth Avenue near Vauxhall Circle for free (parcel location in Google Maps).
Note: As this class is held in our orchard, a forecast of significant rain or standing water will postpone the class until Saturday, February 28th. If postponed, this event posting will be updated on Friday, February 20th.
