About the Event

The UC Master Gardeners of San Diego County present Friendly Inclusive Gardening (FIG). In this presentation you will learn ways to make gardening more accessible to people with physical challenges, seniors with mobility issues, or anyone just looking to learn techniques to make their garden work for them. Also discussed will be how connecting with nature can boost your mental health and help you cultivate a peaceful and healing space. Based on the learnings of Stephen Cantu, a two-time Paralympian and UC Master Gardener for 18 years, the FIG inclusive gardening effort uses principles of universal design to make gardens accessible for all age groups and abilities.

10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Grow Your Garden, where you can swap succulents, seeds, fruit, vegetables and herbs from your garden with your neighbors.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. - Workshop, where you can learn new gardening techniques.

Part of Carlsbad City Library’s Grow Your Garden program.
