UC Weed Science (weed control, management, ecology, and minutia)

Last Thursday (March 15, 2018), the Western Governors' Association released its first ever list of the top 50 invasive species (25 terrestrial, 25 aquatic) important in the western US. This list includes a number of plant, animal, insects, and pathogens.

On a conference trip to New Zealand in 2018, I was able to finally meet the final member of the invasive Elodea family, or Hydrocharitaceae. In the United States, we already have the invasive hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata from Asia) and Brazilian elodea (Egeria densa).

In January, the California Weed Science Society held its annual symposium in beautiful Santa Barbara. This year's conference theme was California Weed Science: From Restoration to Recreation.

The Delta Region Areawide Aquatic Weed Project (DRAAWP) was represented by two presentations to the 15th International Symposium of Aquatic Plants, held February 18-23 2018 in Queenstown, New Zealand.
