Educator Resources
Overview
We are excited that you are interested in leading the UC 4-H Disease Detectives Project. This project was designed to be delivered virtually for youth 12 years and older. There are 8 lessons, plus an orientation that will take approximately 60 minutes each to complete. The project will help youth learn about disease outbreaks, virus transmissions, public health investigations and how protective actions like hand washing, wearing masks, vaccinations, and herd immunity help manage negative public health outcomes.
This website outlines materials used during each group meeting for both the educator and the participant. The tabs on the left which are open access, guide youth week by week through the activities and assignments. The educator lesson plans are password protected. This ensures students don't accidentally see them, allows us to keep track of who is using them, and provides some safety for materials developed by other authors.
We are happy to share the password with you upon request. Please email mhorowitz@ucanr.edu to let her know of your interest.
