Where: Cabrillo College - Aptos, CA

Topics will include:
- Sustainability and IPM
How are sustainability and integrated pest management (IPM) related? We will consider how pests and their management can be influenced by various socioeconomic factors and how UC Master Gardeners can better help their clientele by considering safer and more sustainable practices. - Know your Water
In this session you will learn how pesticide and fertilizer use in urban areas can affect water quality, human health, and the environment; and what you can do to protect waterways from these chemicals. - Is it Safe?
This is a common question the public asks when discussing pesticides. In this session, we will touch on the use of vinegar and other homemade or do-it-yourself pesticides. You will learn about the safety of various natural and synthetic pesticides and how to find “safer” products based on scientific information. - Mosquitoes and Public Health Pests
Public health pests such as mosquitoes, rodents, and cockroaches pose a serious threat to Californians. Newer invasive mosquito species capable of spreading deadly diseases are increasing in various parts of the state. Learn about these pests, how to protect yourself, and what local Mosquito and Vector Control Agencies are doing to help our communities.
This hands-on, train-the-trainer workshop is sponsored by University of California Integrated Pest Management Program.
