Adults as Learners
Remember to use adults learning principles in planning your field day. Adults learn differently from children, therefore teaching techniques need to differ from those used in many schools and universities. Because adults already have considerable education, career and life experience, they want to acquire information that is relevant and which will help them. Find more information on adult learning.

Building Trust
Building trust is crucial because it fosters strong relationships, enhances communication, and creates a foundation for collaboration and mutual respect. Trust encourages openness and vulnerability, allowing individuals or teams to work effectively and address challenges together. In professional and personal contexts, trust leads to greater satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term success. Refer to this Building Trust quick tip (PDF) for more information.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and Principles of Community
Remember our UC ANR Principles of Community and being inclusive!

Better Meetings

Best meeting practices include that participants and facilitators are respectful, seek solutions, seek to build bridges and synergy and much more. Learn more on the Meeting Best Practices page (UC ANR web page). If you need support for complex meetings contact one of our UC ANR Trained Facilitators for availability.

Zoom

The Chief Information Officers of the University of California are very aware and concerned that Zoom is experiencing security and privacy issues. Our UC IT security and privacy experts are closely monitoring these issues and Zoom’s responses. Learn from our UC ANR IT team about Zoom Best Practices (UC ANR web). Use the Zorms - Tips for a better meeting (PDF) for recommendations on utilizing Zoom. UC Davis has a learning snippet Attending Zoom Meetings - Video Learning (10 minutes) and one on Hosting Basics - Video Learning  (17 minutes). Here's a link to the Live training and tutorials. And finally a Zoom intro Hosting Basics (UC Davis Box).

Integrate your Programs

Successful program integration enhances mutual benefits and creates a greater impact by combining complementary skills and resources. Key elements include motivated collaborators who value open communication, mutual respect, and continuous learning, supported by both local and state offices. Additionally, alignment of shared goals, clarity of benefits, and ease of implementation are essential to streamline efforts and achieve desired outcomes effectively. Feel free to delve more in Tips for Program Integration (PDF).
