#14 Figure Fun
Instructions in English
Congratulations, you found a UC 4-H Community Adventure Challenge! Let's have some fun!
Your challenge is to make your muscles stronger. A strong body is important to being an Adventurer!
These adventures are located all around Yolo County (a complete list of locations can be found on the navigation bar on the left).
Below are directions for how to complete this fun activity. You may choose to do all three levels of difficulty, each is a little different. Select which level you would like to try first.
There is also an activity you can do at home below.
- You will be making shapes out of nature debris.
- Look around for items on the ground, such as bark, rocks, sticks and leaves.
- Collect four items.
- Take your items to an open space on the outside track.
- Put all four of them equal distance apart to make the corners of a really big square. A square looks like this:
- Now run from one corner to the next so that you trace the outline as you go. Run several times to see if you can trace this outline in the sand as you run.
- Next, move two of the rocks on the same side further apart. This should make a rectangle. A rectangle looks like this:
Run around your rectangle to trace a path.
Finally, remove one item, so that you only have three corners. This will make a triangle. A triangle looks like this:
Run around your triangle to make a path.
- Find a stick lying on the ground. Do not remove one from a tree as this can hurt it.
- Using the stick that you find on the ground, draw a straight line for 40 feet. You can use the measure app on your phone, or simply count out 40 steps (put your heel to toe as you go, your foot is literally about a foot long).
- Put your stick back where you found it.
- Now stand at one end of your line.
- Can you complete this list of physical challenges?
- Walk the length of the line with only your right foot on the left side, and your left food on the right side.
- Hop with feet together at all times, from one side of the line to the other, with feet together.
- Walk forwards with your eyes closed.
- Walk backwards while twisting your upper body back and forth.
- Twirl down the length of the line, maintaining a straight line.
- Hop on only one foot while holding the other behind you. Switch sides halfway down the line.
- Walk the length with your fingers touching your toes.
- Squat down and side step the length, switching the way you are facing halfway.
- Create a visual line on the grass about forty feet long. You can use the measure app on your phone, or simply count out 40 steps (put your heel to toe as you go, your foot is literally about a foot long). You may want to mark each end with a stick or other item.
- Can you complete this list of advanced physical challenges?
Try ten more of these activities at home.
Which physical challenge did you try for the first time?
