UC ANR Online Bibliography
Due Date and Resources
Reporting your publications in UC ANR's Online Bibliography is required for organizational reporting. Please update your publications every year by the early December reporting due date. The information is used for the annual report to federal funders, UC accountability reporting, UC ANR's Annual report, and other advocacy purposes. A dossier export is available to academics for the supporting documentation section of Merit/Promotion dossiers.
Instructions:
- Enter citations into UC ANR’s Online Bibliography software (part of the directory profile) at https://ucanr.edu/portal/modules/dirbibliography.cfm by either a) manually entering each citation OR by b) using the EndNote XML import process.
- Update your bibliography listings annually for reporting purposes by the early December reporting due date.
- Optional: Use the “Bibliography retrieval” link to download your citations into a Microsoft Word document for ANR Merit and Promotion processes. It will already be sorted by publication type and in chronological order. Format the retrieval as needed for your dossier and submit for your Merit and Promotion.
Categorizing publications
For guidance on categorizing your publications, please see UC ANR's Academic Program Review E-Book, section V, about bibliographies: Link to the E-Book.
For existing EndNote users
ANR IT built an EndNote import/export feature that is compatible with EndNote v7. You can read more about this and instructions in these PowerPoint slides: UC ANR Online Bibliography and EndNote Integration
Integrated Web Platform (IWP) Transition
Current/Site Builder state:
UC ANR's Online Bibliography is part of the ANR Portal Profile. Academics are asked to update lists of peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed publications for annual organizational reporting and advocacy efforts. Publications can exported to MS Word and displayed on public profiles.
Future states:
When Site Builder migrates to IWP in 2025, there will be changes to employees' public profiles. Employee profiles will be populated using some UC Path information (e.g., lived name) and some ANR Portal Profile information (e.g., working title, specialty, discipline, biography). Unfortunately, the bibliography will not be migrated when IWP goes live in 2025. After a stabilization period, ANR IT will facilitate gathering for enhancements. One enhancement is to modernize how employees report their publications in the future state of IWP.
UC ANR Academics should:
- Continue to report peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed publications on the ANR Portal Profile Bibliography System for the foreseeable future (2024 and 2025 annual organizational reporting due dates, at minimum).
- Tip: To efficiently display your publications on your new public profile on IWP, export your publications into MS Word from the ANR Online Bibliography. Copy-paste text into your new public profile on IWP.
- Be prepared for change. When resources are available, UC ANR will gather requirements to modernize how employees report publications (e.g., USDA NIFA will soon utilize DOI numbers to simplify reporting).
Optional: Get EndNote
UC ANR does not have an EndNote license. As affiliates of UC Davis, UC ANR employees can purchase EndNote after registering for UC Davis On the Hub at https://ucdavis.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx?cmi_cs=1&cmi_mnuMain=f189368a-f0a6-e811-8109-000d3af41938.
