Overview
This event provides two opportunities for 4-H members to show-off their knowledge of healthy nutrition, their creativity, and receive constructive feedback on their efforts. No need to be a part of a food project. Kids that participate have a lot of fun, learn something, develop poise and self-confidence. Members can also count this in their record book as a demonstration/presentation!See below for more information on each contest, including registration, rules and preparation.

Help Wanted!
4-H youth and adults are needed to help with the event as registrars, runners, tabulators, and set-up/take-down volunteers. Leaders and 4-H members aged 16 and up who have some experience in cooking are needed as evaluators. Please contact your Community Club Leader or Angela Apple at anginsanfran2@gmail.com
Snack Attack! (registration required)
Open to all registered 4-H youth members - you do not need to be in a food project! You will create a tasty, nutrition snack for eating away from home. This submission will include the following:
- A tasty healthy snack with a creative name
- A recipe for your snack
- A conversation with the evaluators about your snack
- Depending on your age, you also may need to use MyPlate to add different food groups, make creative packaging, create an advertisement, and add nutritional information.

Pack a Healthy Lunch Challenge! (Registration required)
Open to all registered 4-H youth member – you do not have to be in a food project! You will pack a tasty, healthy, sustainable, and safe lunch to be enjoyed away from home. The submission will include the following:
- A packed lunch
- A copy of the MyPlate worksheet (see instructions) with the lunch ingredients shown in each space.
- Answers to the Challenge questions.

General Information
Eligibility and Awards:
All 4-H’ers may enter these contests. Entrants will be evaluated using the “Danish Judging” method whereby entrants are evaluated against a standard of expectation based on their age and experience. Members are NOT evaluated against each other. All entrants receive an award to acknowledge their effort and participation. Medals will be awarded to qualifying scored entries.
