For 50 years, UC Cooperative Extension EFNEP educators have taught Californians in their communities, at community centers, schools, Head Start preschools, churches and, sometimes, in their own homes how to lead a healthy life.

The National 4-H Council has named Elisabeth Watkins of San Joaquin County the winner of the 2019 4-H Youth in Action Award for Healthy Living. She will receive a $5,000 scholarship for higher education and will serve as an advocate and spokesperson for 4-H Healthy Living programming.

To provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment for unsupervised school children, Sue Manglallan started the first 4-H Youth Development Program after-school childcare program children in San Diego County.
