Dear 4-H families, On Tuesday, February 18th, the 4-H Leaders Council will hold its monthly meeting at 7pm. The location will be at the County Agricultural conference room at 1423 Abbott St. in Salinas. All 4-H families are invited to attend and take part in the councils discussion and planning.

Join us for a half-day workshop focused on production and management of irrigated pasture, grass hay, and alfalfa. Thursday, February 27, at 10 am at the Elk's Lodge in Susanville.

I am currently doing a spray trial in a field ostensibly populated with both Lewis mite, Eotetranychus lewisii and twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae. To boot, there's Phytoseiulus persimilis predatory mite mixed in, which people say doesn't eat much of Lewis mite.

My husband and I just returned from celebrating our 25th anniversary in Maui. We had honeymooned there and celebrated my parents' 50th anniversary there, so Maui has always been special to us.

Citrus greening disease, or Huanglongbing (HLB), is deadly, incurable, and the most significant threat to the citrus industry. Most HLB research focuses on the tree canopy, but scientists in California studied the impact of HLB on root systems.

Diversity will reign supreme at the UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day on Saturday, Feb. 15, when 13 museums or collections will be open to the public. The event, set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free and family friendly.
