Had a friend deliver two clamshells of fresh picked berries from his farm yesterday. It's early February, so this is pretty early. Fully ripe, plump and sweetened by the sun.
A few years ago I attended Ken William's Irrigation class at Solano College. One evening the class was re-piping the overhead sprinkler system in the greenhouse. Pipes were cut out and replaced and during this process there were a few plant casualties.
It's hard to believe, but it is winter. Even with the nice weather we are experiencing, there still isn't a whole lot to do in the garden - or is there? Spring will be here before you know, and it will be time to get back out to the garden for a little trimming of this and that.
I missed the Budweiser commercial with the Clydesdales. Was there one? I was busy doing other things, including enjoying the weather, and I forgot to stay on top of the commercials.
Advice from the Help Desk of the UC Master Gardener Program of Contra Costa County Client's Request: We moved into a house that has a large yard (1 acre). It's 20 years old and could use some updating. The sprinkler system is not efficient and we have too much grass. ($1200 water bills.
