Ongoing research

WASHINGTON, June 26, 2019 USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the University of California at Davis Soil Resource Laboratory today announced the release of the iOS and Android SoilWeb app, version 2.0.

By this time of year the lush growth and colorful flowers of spring are just a memory. Many California native plants go dormant in the summer, waiting for the fall and winter rains before they grow again. Some plants, like California buckeye, are already losing their leaves.

I'm on vacation this week. So far, it has been convenient to keep up with email because I can connect once a day and get through emails quickly. Then connect again, if and when I wish. This helps avoid having piles of email to plow through upon my return.

What was that! If you grow Mexican sunflowers (Tithonia) in your pollinator garden, you've probably noticed the fast-flying longhorned male bees being totally territorial. Their job is to target whatever's on the Tithonia.
