Daniel K Macon

Dan Macon is the livestock and natural resources advisor for the Central Sierra region, including Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, and Tuolumne Counties. He served previously in the same role for Placer, Nevada, Sutter, and Yuba Counties. His work focuses on the intersection of livestock production systems and natural resource management, with an emphasis on targeted grazing for fuel reduction and weed management, livestock-predator interactions, drought management, and ranch business viability. Dan serves as the chair of the UCANR Animal Production Systems Program Area and is a member of the UCANR Program Council. He also serves as co-chair of the UCANR Livestock-Predator Work Group. Dan is a past president of the California Wool Growers Association and the California-Pacific Section of the Society for Range Management.
