Nevada County 4-H Youth Development Program
About 4-H
4-H is a youth development program serving young people ages 5–18 through hands-on, experiential learning. The program welcomes youth members and adult volunteers from all backgrounds and communities.
Youth may participate through community clubs, after-school programs, camps, conferences, events, and military partnership programs.
Nevada County supports ten 4-H clubs, more than 100 adult volunteers, and over 400 youth members. Volunteer leaders provide educational and leadership opportunities for youth throughout the county.

Why 4-H
History
For more than 100 years, 4-H has provided youth with educational programs that promote personal growth and leadership development.
Learning environment
4-H creates positive learning environments where youth explore new ideas, develop skills, and discover areas of interest. Research demonstrates that engaged, self-directed learning strengthens outcomes for young people.
Lasting impact
The 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development, conducted in partnership with Tufts University, followed more than 7,000 youth across 42 states.
Findings show that 4-H participants demonstrate stronger leadership, public speaking skills, higher educational aspirations, and increased interest in STEM fields compared to their peers.
