This is an in-person event

10 a.m. to noon:

  • Tool Sharpening Booth - Bring one pair of pruners or loppers and our team will sharpen them for you for free. Pruners or loppers must be in reasonable working condition (limited rust, operational, no divots or bent blades). Because of time constraints we will sharpen only 2-inch blades or smaller - no hedge shears or serrated edges.
  • Grow Your Garden. You can also swap succulents, seeds, fruit, vegetables and herbs from your garden with your neighbors.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m:

  • Workshop, where you can learn new gardening techniques. Topic is Healthy Soil.

About the Event

Workshop: Healthy soil is the key to growing healthy plants, but what is healthy soil? How do you know if you have it? With some hands-on demonstrations, we will also discuss soil texture, porosity and movement of air, water and nutrients in soil.

Presenter Bio: MJ Brovold is a UC Certified Master Gardener passionate about making sustainable gardening approachable for everyone. With a background in food gardening, native habitat, and sustainable, low effort approaches, they're here to convince you that healthy soil is more important and less mysterious than you think.
