Master Gardener Program Application

Master Gardener Program Application

Next Master Gardener Training Class is scheduled to start in November 2025.

We are delighted that you are interested in applying to the Master Gardener Program.

You must attend a mandatory information meeting detailing the Master Gardener program. Information meetings are held at the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Office, located at 669 County Square Drive, Ventura,

Check back to this site in the summer of 2025 for a link to the application.

At the information meeting, applicants will also be asked to schedule an interview with Certified Master Gardeners. Interviews are scheduled in October at the UCCE Ventura offices. Following the interview, a letter of invitation will be sent to those accepted into the program.  The training program is limited to about 35 individuals, and we frequently have more applicants than available spaces.

The 2025-2026 Master Gardener training classes are scheduled for Wednesdays, 1:00-4:30 pm, starting in November, 2025. Most classes are held at the UCCE Office in Ventura.

Participants who complete the training with no more than two absences, participate in a group hands-on garden learning program, pass a final comprehensive exam with a score of 70% or higher, and who complete 50 volunteer hours, will receive certification as a UC Master Gardener. University policy requires all volunteers to clear livescan fingerprinting prior to beginning volunteer service; details about this process will be provided during the information meetings.

On the first day of class, a $275 check or cash should be ready, payable to UC Regents. This is a fee for course materials, and is non-refundable.  Financial assistance is available to cover the materials fee, and if you'd like more information, contact Nicole Vanole, by email: masn2001@msn.com.  She may also be reached at (805) 390-3587.

The UCCE staff and volunteers are delighted that you are interested in the Master Gardener Program, and hope that we will see you at one of the information meetings.
