A True-Blue Flower

There are very few true-blue flowers to choose from in the cutting garden that do well in floral design. There is iris, bachelor's button, delphinium, hydrangea and thistle to name a few. All these flowers offer certain characteristics and have certain looks and uses to design with.

Now that we're finally getting some rain, don't let it fall off your house, down your gutters and into the storm drain. Catch some of it and use it in your garden. I do two things to catch rainwater. I have eight swales, which are open ditches that are closed at each end.

Conventional processing tomato weed management in California often includes pre-plant herbicides (trifluralin and/or s-metolachlor), followed by cultivation, and hand hoeing. Rimsulfuron herbicide can also be used in conventional systems and can be applied either pre or post transplanting.
