Weed issues in organic carrot seed production

In late November, an organic grower in Sutter County contacted UCCE about a weed problem in carrots grown for seed. The main weed issue was a grass weed (too small to ID from photo), but stinging nettle was also prominent from the picture the grower sent.

The Season for Stocking and Oranges

December is harvest time for citrus, especially oranges. Drive past any grove and you can't help but notice the golden almost glowing globes of ripening fruit. Certainly, the two trees in my side yard are hard to miss and difficult to pass by.
