4-H Youth Development Program

Head, Heart, Hands, Health. Growing Youth who Thrive.

Welcome to 4-H in Tehama County

The 4-H Youth Development Program is an important portion of the University of California Cooperative Extension. This non formal educational program is made available in Tehama County through a partnership of county, state, and federal governments.

The mission of the University of California 4-H Youth Development Program (YDP) is to engage youth in reaching their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development.  This is accomplished by engaging youth through the use of research-based, learning-by-doing, educational experiences.

4-H is a family affair. This means that parents are an important part of our program. Parental involvement is one of the keys to a successful 4-H program. Parents find the 4-H program valuable in helping them to help their children. Our young people discover that the 4-H approach is fun, exciting, and rewarding.

If any of us can assist you better, please do not hesitate to ask. We would like to help you “make the best better”!
