Consistency in font and color is an important part of building a brand identity. Using a common set of fonts and colors signals that we are all part of the same family. In addition, a consistent set of fonts and colors helps keep you reader focused and attentive to your message.
Fonts
The official font families associated with the ANR Brand are Myriad Pro (san serif) and Minion Pro (serif). We recognize that not everyone has these fonts. Acceptable substitutes are Helvetica or Arial (sans serif) in place of Myriad Pro and Times New Roman (serif) in place of Minion Pro.
When creating Powerpoint presentations or projects in Word that will be passed around for editing and use, we recommend using Arial (sans serif) and Times New Roman (serif). They are considered "safe" fonts since they are installed with Microsoft Office and nearly everyone has them.
The UC ANR brand color palette
The primary color palette should be used for prominent type or graphics.
The secondary accent palette colors can be used to compliment the original colors or used on their own, for instance with the logotype reversed out. They can also be used to create tints.
The primary palette colors and some accent colors are automatically included in Toolkit templates.
What do the numbers on the color palette mean?
Colors are specified using numbers. We use three different color systems to define our colors.
CMYK: Commercial printers and some desktop printers express colors as a mix of four inks, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK). Use CMYK colors when creating printed projects.
RGB: Computer screens express colors as a mix of red, green, and blue (RGB). RGB is commonly used to set up UC ANR colors in Microsoft's Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
HEX: Commonly used to specify colors on websites.
