Two Profitable Niche Farming workshops were held Dec. 15 and 16 in Eureka and Ukiah. These regional workshops focused on specialty crops and strategies that small-scale farmers could use to select new enterprises and increase their likelihood for success. View the agenda.

Every year the UC Small Farm Workgroup meets for a conference to share research updates, collaboration opportunities, and administrative information. In 2009, the annual meeting was held at the UC Cooperative Extension Monterey County office in Salinas.

A series of agritourism professional development workshops were held in various regions of California in winter and spring 2011, with funding from Western SARE.

California's first statewide agritourism summit was a chance for everyone involved in the state's agritourism to share tools and strategies for supporting California farmers and ranchers in developing successful agritourism operations.

The "Collaborating to Access New Markets" workshop, offered by the UC Small Farm Program, focused on ways small- and medium-sized growers can pool resources to better compete in wholesale markets and other larger distribution networks. The workshop was held June 29, 2011 in Woodland, Calif.
