Throughout Humboldt and Del Norte counties, the UC Master Food Preserver Program is actively engaging with tribal members. In fact, the UC Master Food Preserver volunteers have been jamming it up since 2017 with over 15 workshops for tribal community members.

There are a limited number of herbicides registered for melon production in California and Arizona, two of the major production areas for cantaloupes and honeydews. Shallow cultivation and nonselective herbicides with no soil activity can be effective if used after bed formation and before planting.

Keeping my eyes open

While the temperatures are certainly heating up, my productivity is definitely down. I started the week with a scratched cornea, the result of gardening. Who knew blinking could be so painful! Just another reason I've been trying to keep my eyes open.
