Such a silly name for a bad, bad weed. This weed seemed to appear overnight in 2010. It is invasive! Catchweed bedstraw is a summer annual broadleaf plant that is starting to show in your gardens now! Its bristles attach to people's clothing and the hair of animals, aiding in its dispersal.

On a conference trip to New Zealand in 2018, I was able to finally meet the final member of the invasive Elodea family, or Hydrocharitaceae. In the United States, we already have the invasive hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata from Asia) and Brazilian elodea (Egeria densa).
