Test PB Collection: FTE

Links to two short introductory videos on the California Farm Demonstration Network are now available at the CASI website http://casi.ucanr.edu/. The first one is about 8 minutes long and presents a number of the farmers and features of the Network.

Eight members of California Ag Solutions of Madera, CA were hosted at the longstanding NRI Project field in Five Points on Tuesday, June 27th by Jeff Mitchell.

We are seeing severe armyworm infestations in the field. Moth numbers have stayed relatively constant in a few locations, still on the increase in Sutter and Yolo counties. This means that egg laying may continue and we may have more worms coming up.

Remember when scientists first detected the Mediterranean fruit fly in California? It was the early 1980s.

Two more trees infected with huanglongbing (HLB) disease were identified and destroyed in the days before UC Cooperative Extension and the Citrus Research Board kicked off their spring Citrus Growers Education Seminar in Exeter June 27.

The Bohart Museum of Entomology came out in force on Monday, June 26 to honor Tabatha Yang, the recipient of the top award in the service category of the UC Davis Staff Assembly's Citation for Excellence Program.

UC Cooperative Extension has augmented efforts to monitor armyworm populations in rice fields since 2015 when we observed large populations earlier in the year (June) than previously observed. Here in San Joaquin County, we began monitoring in Delta rice fields a couple weeks ago.
