Drones are well-known for their breathtaking photos and video, but the real magic for researchers occurs when a series of images are stitched together with modern photogrammetry software. The output of this processing includes extremely high resolution, georectified orthomosaic images, and 3D surface models.

This seminar style workshop will cover the full data pipeline to utilize this remarkable technology, from flight planning, to data analysis, to visualization of the final results, with examples from plant science and ecology. We don't have time for a hands-on exercise for participants, but demos will be shown and resources provided to enable participants to create maps and images on their own.
